What Happened in Salem: Week of June 27th

It was another week of confusing motivations and rapidly shifting plans…

Andre tried to cozy up to Kate, who could see through his scheming but was too preoccupied to fight it, so she just allowed this homicidal lunatic to move into the Kiriakis mansion. Nicole traveled to wherever Chloe’s musty cottage is located and was shocked to see Deimos alive. She convinced him to come back to Salem to clear her name, and Deimos played upon the feelings that the writers recently decided she might have for him.

Complete garbage, such a shame. I see people complaining about Dena and her writing, which I don’t disagree with, but isn’t this Josh Griffith’s stuff we’ve been seeing for months now?

Yes! I don’t get why it’s all being attributed to Dena. I think what’s currently airing was written after she returned from her leave of absence but before Griffith finished up. You can definitely see the (attempted) course correction in how quickly some stories are changing, but there was also probably a bunch of jockeying for power between them. I can’t wait until the Higley/Quan stuff starts airing so the show might at least settle down. It feels nuts.

I am still behind in viewing so I haven’t seen Friday or Monday yet but I just can’t seem to motivate myself to completely catch up. I have never been one of those people that can just FF through the stories I don’t like. I guess it is my love of those umbrella stories and the fact that I keep hoping against hope that the stories are going to story connecting in ways I had not seen coming…LOL. As I was watching some of last week’s episodes I started feeling like I had missed something…like the stories skipped ahead a little. I mean the Deimos stuff has been all over the place but the scenes between Nicole and Deimos felt like there was much more of a history than what I had seen on screen…and some of the Summer story felt that way too when Brady was telling Maggie that Summer was playing them both? Where did that come from?

Maybe it’s in my head because I am losing the ability to focus and care about what I am actually seeing but it just felt like I had missed a couple of weeks or something. I don’t really care because these stories aren’t really worth watching but I don’t understand how I could watch every episode and feel kinda lost at the same time.

I’ve had the same feeling lately. I don’t think you’re missing things — stuff is being skipped over or abbreviated. I’m scratching my head at this sudden “connection” between Nicole and Deimos. And there are little things: like we had all that to-do about Summer moving in with Victor and Maggie, and then she was just back at the hotel and mentioned to Dario that she had moved out. It’s disorienting.

I’m the same as you, though. I don’t FF (unless maaaaaaybe it’s one of those endless flashbacks to something I just saw), so I just suffer through the show. Lately I’ve been doing a lot of laundry and washing dishes and whatnot while it plays…

I’ve always wanted to try to sit through the whole show, but I just can’t, even back in the 80’s. John and Marlena together have and always will be ffwd material for me, I don’t care if their talking about people I like or not, lol.

You right that their skipping, or just plain making up things things. They had both Ciara and Chase talking like they’d seen and talked to Abby at the clinic and yet Chase wasn’t even admitted, and Ciara didn’t get hired there until the day Abby ran out the window. It was silly.

      • mykleraus Says:

I just watched Monday and was SO confused. Ciara literally didn’t get hired until after the fire, when Abigail was plotting her escape. We haven’t even seen her work, have we? She went to apply and ran into Chase. That’s it. They can’t even maintain the internal logic of what happened last week!
