Actress Departing

Talk about a Christmas miracle.

After weeks of rumors and blind items, it’s been confirmed that Vivian Jovanni, who plays Ciara Brady, is officially out. From Serial Scoop:

When asked to comment on her departure from DAYS, Jovanni was upbeat.

She told Serial Scoop, “My experience at Days was phenomenal! Everyone there, from the cast to the crew, is professional and nurturing of new talent, which was a real blessing. Perhaps most rewarding was hearing from the fans. I don’t think I can over state the fact that Days fans are truly special. Their love and loyalty makes it all worth while.”

She went on to say that the decision was “mutual,” which I’m not sure I entirely believe, but that’s a very gracious statement for her to make considering that it must have been pretty brutal for her to read and see all the online feedback about her performance over the past year. I’ve seen nothing to indicate that she’s anything but a very nice young woman, but she’s been in over her head onscreen since the get-go, to the extent that it’s distracting watching her scenes.

There’s no information yet on what her exit will look like or if they’re planning to recast — which they should, perhaps after a short offscreen rest for Ciara — but I’m crossing my fingers they don’t idiotically kill her off, as they’ve been all too wont to do in recent years.

Thank goodness. No way it was mutual. In the old days she would have been gone as quick as Charity Rahmer. She didn’t improve and she’s been working for over a year. Usually you see some improvement if their on that long no matter how bad the actor.

A Christmas miracle indeed!! They could send Ciara to visit a relative or go away to college.

Since Beemer’s Shawn isn’t here long-term, have her go live with Shawn while she goes to school or something. Then she can return as a recast.

i think they should send her away to acting school since she decided that was where her heart really was… be a star!! and learn her craft properly.

Poor thing was put in a horrible position. I can’t believe they hired in the first place after little Lauren Boles. She had big shoes to fill. They wouldn’t dare kill her off.

Totally. Normally these SORASed teens have enough trouble finding their footing, but she was in the rare and unenviable position of replacing a really popular, entertaining kid who played a surprisingly dynamic character. Not only did they cast a weaker actress, but they stripped away a lot of what made young Ciara so much fun.

Normally I’d say they wouldn’t dare kill her off, but look at Will. I still can’t believe they did that. I’d like to think they’ve learned, though.

Hey, is Lauren Boles old enough now? 🙂

    • Fluffysmom Says:

I was thinking the same thing.

      • mykleraus Says:

If she were even two years older, they could’ve pulled a Christie Clark and brought her back. I hate that they rushed the teens into college because it makes it impossible.

    • mykleraus Says:

It’s a shame, because I just looked and she turns 14 this year. They basically could’ve kept her in the role and started giving Ciara little teen storylines in the next year or two. The real reason Ciara’s even a presence is to give Hope a child on canvas, and Boles’s version already had our investment. What a waste.

I’m so glad Ciara the Android is leaving. I’m sure when they send her off they may actually make me like her (otherwise just tolerate her) as they have done with some of the other character exits lately:Belle, Will, Eric, Phillip, etc. Why does Hope necessarily need to have her grown ass children stay in Salem? NONE of Marlena’s biological kids are Salem at the moment. Kate has 3x as many kids/grand kids and none of them seem to really stick around for the long haul or bother to visit much. I’m not even counting Lucas because he’s not even on enough. 😉 It’s good news Austin is coming back but, how long will he stay?

      • mykleraus Says:

The Austin/Carrie appearance is only like seven episodes, I believe.

I don’t think Hope necessarily needs either of her grown kids around, but giving her a teenager for the purpose of stakes doesn’t hurt. I just hope they do something sensible for Ciara’s exit (like send her to live with Shawn and Belle or something) instead of killing her or having her just vanish without anyone mentioning it for six months!
