What Happened in Salem: Week of June 6th

Kate launched another insane scheme, Hope managed to cross the line of sanity again, and someone surprising popped up onscreen…

Exhibiting a complete lack of ability to learn a lesson (you know, from the last time she thought a man was dead and hoped he’d disappear down the river), Kate went running to the police with her video as proof that Nicole killed Deimos. Roman was dubious but still brought in Nicole for questioning, and Nicole (who must want to get the death penalty so she can join Daniel in the afterlife) hired Belle to represent her. Kate discovered that Aiden was back from the dead and offered him a quarter of a million dollars to forge documents “proving” she and Deimos had been married before his death. While the police found Nicole’s earring at the crime scene, they also managed not to find Deimos’s body, which had washed up on the shore. A bloodied and battered Deimos awoke and dragged himself to a phone, where he made a call for help and identified himself as “Robert”… and when his assistance showed up, it was none other than Chloe Lane, who has once again managed to get herself into a situation almost as stupid as the time she got tricked into becoming a prostitute.

haven’t i seen variations on these themes before? HMMM. wonder where.

Apparently that was Lani’s last scene…just sitting there stalkerishly watching Shawn and Belle flirt??? (Jason47 said June 9th was her last airdate and Sal Stowers has been removed from the credits)

I just have to believe that they had planned something much different for Lani and then scrapped it and had no clue what to do with the character but I saw so little of her that I am not even sure what kind of actress Sal Stowers is. I know a lot of people said she was stiff but so many of her scenes were kinda awkward “getting to know you” kinds of interactions that it is just hard to tell.

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that this material is mostly Dena now and Josh’s material is wrapping up. I commented last week that I almost felt the vibe shift and everything felt much more old school soap to me so that might have been the point where Dena returned from her LOA?

I don’t even know what to say about any of this Deimos storyline. I am so baffled that the whole damn town seems to know what he did to Maggie and that he basically stole everything Victor had so why in the hell did they just allow it? And whether he is dead or not, or whether he is married to Kate or not really shouldn’t matter and Victor should just get all his shit back! And now we are adding Chloe to Deimos’ harem of women???

I haven’t hated the commune storyline but like everything else it could have been so much better. I think the bottom line is that Joey has been trying to be a Steve but deep down he is Kayla. He doesn’t want the danger and adventure afterall. He wants calm and stable.

Wait, WHAT? How could that have been Lani’s last scene? That’s INSANE, so of course it’s probably accurate. Thanks for the intel. I wanted to like Sal Stowers, and even though she seemed stiff, you’re right — she barely ever had anything to play. I thought she was cute in her few flirty scenes with Brandon Beemer before they turned her into a clingy nympho. There was just never a character there. She barely ever even had any scenes of substance!

I hadn’t read that about the Dena/Josh switch, but it actually does sort out some stuff. The switch into the Kate/Nicole fight over Deimos, Chloe’s reintroduction, and the abrupt turn into this Rafe/Hope/Aiden triangle feel rather Higley.

Yeah I don’t get Lani’s exit either. Are they just never going to mention her again? Are we going to get a scene where Abe and Theo discuss that she was so heartbroken over Shawn that she just up and left town or that her mother got sick and she had to leave to take care of her? It’s just odd. They could of at least had her say she was going to check the mail like Don Craig!

      • mykleraus Says:

It’s sort of fitting, given what an absolute non-entity she’s been, but it really is horrible writing. And we’ll probably never see nor hear of her again, so Abe will have yet ANOTHER forgotten adult child out there…
