What Happened in Salem: Week of February 29th

Guess what? Murder, death, and rape!

Joey underwent that important rite of passage: confessing to one’s mother than you committed the murder for which your father is under arrest. Steve was arraigned, and he and Belle — whom he presumably hired as his lawyer because he plans to martyr himself by going straight to the gas chamber — decided to try and prove that Ava was a threat to his family, thus making her death self-defense.

  1. Jamie Says:

That scene where Victor threatened Deimos was very homoerotic. With the goon grabbing him and pulling his arms behind his back and then whispering in his ear and Victor walking up and ripping his shirt open, I was thinking “bow-chicka-wow-wow” right up until the knife came out….that’s always a mood killer.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the recast of Dario. My goodness! Well done, casting, well done!

Okay, I’m glad I’m not the only one who had that thought. Even the way he was tracing that knife blade along Deimos’s pec was… weirdly sensual. And there’s some slash fiction I NEVER need to read.

And yeah, new Dario is hot. He reads a little old to me for Dario — like, doesn’t he basically seem Rafe’s age? — but if that’s the biggest issue, carry on. I like him so far.

      • Jamie Says:

Oh yeah, I forgot about him tracing the blade across his pec…I may have blocked that part out.

Dario does read a little old to me as well. He was a love interest for Melanie and now he’s (seemingly) a love interest for Melanie’s dead-father’s fiance….

      • mykleraus Says:

Yeah, it feels a little weird age-wise, but then again, they paired Melanie and Brady, so I think 25-40 all reads the same to Days writers and casting people.

  2. ADW Says:

How do you feel about Gabi and JJ finally doing the deed and the way the scene was done? Where is Ari we haven’t SEEN her since last fall? Ari is ALWAYS with this imagery sitter these days while Gabi models and galavants.
Speaking characters we never see anymore, Adrienne’s cameo at the police station in the her pink suit for Steve’s arreignment was very interesting. I wish we could have actually seen it with Mad Dog DA Justin trying to tear apart Patch represented by wet behind the ears Malibu Barbie.
Eric mentioned Lucas is out of town although even while he’s been in Salem he’s been scarce.
Theresa made a big mistake of spilling to Abigail about Summer Townsend and Brady’s reason for bringing her to Salem: 1.) Abbie reiterated that her and Theresa are “not friends.” 2.) Abbie has the Horton female gossiping gene and it will be on the 6:00 news in no time. Maggie still doesn’t know anything about this yet!

I feel ‘meh’ about JJ and Gabi. I actually like them as a couple, or at least the potential, but they’re being written in such a conflict-free way. It was dumb to brush so quickly past the idea of Gabi having killed JJ’s cousin… or having a kid by JJ’s other cousin… or having a kid at all, which is something that I think would at least merit consideration from any 21-year-old guy. They don’t seem to be playing any of the beats or story I would have expected with these two, which is weird because I find them likable and think they COULD build something interesting there.

I hadn’t thought about the possibility of Abigail being the way Maggie finds out about this, but that makes sense. And then Brady will blame Theresa.
