Ever just sit around your home, having a glass of wine and listening to a recording of yourself singing the world’s longest rendition of “Beautiful Dreamer”? If so, I have a friend for you!

In all honesty, it’s probably not that weird to listen to your own music, especially when mourning your child and contemplating a job offer that would put you back in the music world, but I had a truly confusing and existential moment of wondering if that was supposed to be a Kassie dePaiva CD, and my head nearly exploded.

Almost as much as it did when Kate had to inform Eduardo that not only has she already banged his son — meaning she’s basically got her second father/son duo in the bag (first was EJ/Stefano) — but that Eduardo’s granddaughter is also her own great-granddaughter. If these are the types of conversations you need to have on first dates, it’s time to move.

And of course Eduardo is being recruited for “a mission” even though he told “them” that he’s “out.” This has gotta be the ISA, yeah? Especially in light of whatever connection he has to John’s past? This makes him, like, the fourth man in Salem to have the “I only abandoned my family because of the ISA” backstory in about a month. What do those letters stand for, anyway? International Single Assholes?

In more serious news, Abigail and her son were reunited in somewhat record time, but I’m absolutely fine with that.

I was way too stressed out thinking about that little baby all alone in the motel room and wondering if they were going to drag this out for a Christmas reunion. To be fair, Christmas is probably 1-2 days away in Salem time, but still. I did manage to have another thought in the midst of all this, though.

They did it. After what she’s been through, Abigail really, truly feels like a leading Days heroine. Kate Mansi’s performance through all this has been so intense and terrific, and it finally feels like they’ve transitioned this character into the big leagues — something they’ve really struggled to do with younger characters in the past decade or so. I don’t know where they go next with her and Chad, and what role Ben will play, but I’m interested to see… even if she is still an idiot for not having bopped Ben over the head during the two hours that he had his back turned to her in the cabin.

Kate should make a play for Eric and/or Brady next…then she can add 2 more father/son duos to her ever growing list. I’m not slut shaming…I’m just jealous of her accomplishments. Well, except for Stefano…and Roman….

Kate Mansi has delivered some fantastic performances over the last few weeks!! She really has grown so much and I really like how that has allowed the writers to take Abigail into this new direction.

    • mykleraus Says:

For a sec I was like, “Will this ONLY be her second?” She could also plausibly get Mike Horton (if he ever shows his face again). Too bad she missed her chance for the Bo/Victor combo, which would’ve given Bo a mother/daughter combo as well!

Kate Mansi has been great. I 100% believe that she is the character — it doesn’t look like “acting.” So of course she’ll leave soon.

    • Shea Says:

So you are jealous that she was with Clyde?

I am slut shaming. The woman is the town mattress and I really don’t want to waste A Martinez by pairing him with Kate. In theory the two actor could work well together but I just can’t go there with Kate anymore.

Totally agree about Kate Mansi. Of course this probably means she is leaving but I guess you have to strike while the iron is hot if your plan is to move on from soap operas so I can’t blame her if she does.

      • mykleraus Says:

I agree that it’s ridiculous how they keep bringing in these powerful, mysterious middle-aged men and making Kate the default partner for them. After Ian and Clyde, not to mention what she went through with Stefano, I’d really like to see her keep her guard up. I also wouldn’t have minded them trying one of those guys with Marlena or someone for a while.

      • Jamie Says:

Clyde…hmmmm. If I’m keeping this strictly superficial and just based on looks, then yes. I think he’s a handsome man and there’s something about his swagger. If I consider personality….it’s a hard pass.

I haven’t seen Wednesday’s episode yet (always a day behind here in Oz) but if Jennifer doesn’t get to see Abigail soon my head is going to explode!
ps I love that wordpress was smart enough to pick another explanation for the words that the letters ISA represent as a ‘related article.’

    • mykleraus Says:

      Ahahahahaha, about the related article.

I was glad that JJ was a part of the climax of this story, but Jennifer’s absence has been insane. I’m sure she’s busy having another long flashback sequence about all the times she’s tried to contact Abigail and not heard back…

International Single Assholes! OMG. 🙂 I love you.

I will let myself like Kate when she shears off that streak of green in her hair. Really? She looks like a, forgive me, aging porn star.
My real beef is that I love love love A. Martinez. Can’t we do better for him? Speaking of Eddy – anyone else think ISA hit man? He’s got that military precision thing that screams sniper to me.

KM has really won me over. I haven’t been to high on Abby, but I thought she was fabulous in the end of this story. I wish we hadn’t had to see weeks of her clutching her stomach and groaning, but the payoff was totally worth it. All three of the main players, KM, RSW and BF deserve kudos. I think I’m actually going to miss Ben.

That thing with Eve and the CD was hilarious to me. And the song…It felt really bizarre. That stuff takes me out of the moment and I’m not crazy about it. It’s like every time Hope flashes a new piece of jewelry, and you know it’s from Kristian’s jewelry line.

How about letting Eve sing at a night-club or something instead? Whatever happened to Wings? Actually, I’d rather hear Jen Lilly and Eric Marstoff sing. Maybe Days needs to have a version of GH’s “Nurses Ball” so these guys can show-off one day a year and get it out of their systems. You know Doug and Julie want to have a “gala” at their new B&B.

    • mykleraus Says:

Is it bad that I sort of love the streak in Kate’s hair? As insane as it gets sometimes, I generally love her style, or at least that she HAS a style and commits to it.

I hadn’t thought of Eddy being a hit man, but today’s dialogue definitely lends credence to that. Good thinking. At least it’s different than “superspy taking down the DiMeras.”

LOL about Alfonso’s jewelry. It’s always so glaring! I really don’t love soap singing. I get secondhand embarrassment, even when they’re good singers. I could put up with a Nurses’ Ball type of thing where it had some kind of sane context, though.

Oh, and I agree about Mansi, Flynn, and Wilson. They all really rose to the occasion. It makes me wonder what some of the other younger actors who never got this kind of spotlight might’ve been able to do…

      • Denise Says:

So with you on the second hand embarrassment thing. My eyes start to water and I MUST fast-forward. There are SEVERAL multi-talented folks I’m sure, but unless it’s in the context of the character (like Liz Curtis, who was a singer), I’m not too high on it.

Remember when Melissa and Emilio were a singing team?! My eyes watered for months!!!

      • mykleraus Says:

I’m so glad I wasn’t watching during that era. I would have died from accidentally smothering myself with the pillow I have to put over my face when people sing.

  4. VKing Says:

I agree with all you have said–KM has been stellar. I think Ben has stepped up to the plate as well. I actually felt kind of sorry for him, until he left the baby unattended—very disturbing scene. I would like to add I loved the conversation between Rafe and Chase–such tenderness! The following scene between Chase and Ciara could have been so sweet as well…but the poor girl just cannot act. As for A Martinez—he is a great actor—loved him on Santa Barbara….but could he at least crack a smile–even a partial smile–every now and then? I hope DOOL finds a nice role for A Martinez and does not let him slip through their fingers as is happening with Cassie D.

    • mykleraus Says:

The Rafe/Chase scene surprised me, in a good way. I know it feels a little like setup for the Hope/Rafe pairing, but it was also genuinely insightful and an interesting interaction between two characters whose situations I wouldn’t have equated otherwise. I love when they do that.

Ciara is terrible. Sometimes I feel like it works, but these bigger moments come and she just sort of melts down into a pile of recited words.

  5. marypickford Says:

“International single assholes” is truly brilliant. 🙂

I had no idea that was KDP’s CD she was listening to, and now that I know it annoys me in retrospect. It would be different if Eve had had anything else to do in the episode, but she really didn’t! I would rather hear her sing for real on the show, informally, maybe with Justin. Like they had Jen Lilley singing to Tate that one time. That was cute and didn’t involve a formal set piece.

    • mykleraus Says:

It really felt like the show throwing her a bone to promote her own music, which is like… then give her something to do! The character is a singer. I’m hoping this new job will lead her back in that direction.

  6. kathy Says:

I agree that maybe Eduardo is a hit man. Maybe a little OCD too. Did you notice how precise his movements were in the hotel room? He carefully arranged and rearranged all the items on his desk. Maybe just to know where they were if he had to make a quick get away. I think I like this character and I know I love A Martinez.

    • mykleraus Says:

Yeah! Those little touches are really interesting. I hope they genuinely give him good material (and make him shave), because he’s clearly up to the challenge and this character feels well-thought-out.

      • Shea Says:

Have you heard the story about his goatee? He basically said he hit a professional dry spell and to change things up he grew the goatee and immediately got the part on Longmire and has been working steadily ever since so he said it has become like a talisman or something. So I don’t think it is going anywhere any time soon.

      • mykleraus Says:

I hadn’t heard that! Okay, I can give him some leeway now. I get that logic.

  7. ADW Says:

LOL on ISA. 😂 I thought Eve was listening to Anne Murray or somebody like that at first, I didn’t catch the CD, thank you. 😀 I’m glad they chilled out a bit on using Eve’s porn track in her scenes as well as Eve melodramatically grasping her throat and sobbing after singing a few notes. I like the way Eve’s character has evolved after Paige died.
Speaking of evolving, that seems that will be the direction they will take with Abigail. I hope she will continue to grow up, become a little smarter/less naive, stop lying (especially to herself), and get a sense of humor. I still think Chad can do so much better but, he’s in love with her. After watching a revamped Theresa and JJ I’m not surprised to see others change. One thing I find fascinating is to compare and contrast the way Hope and Abigail after handling things after the man they loved tried to kill them and then their true love swooped in to save them. OK Chad is not dead and Abbie had a baby during that ordeal but, those two ladies really need to talk and attend therapy together.
I agree about the baby, I was worried about him all alone for several hours in the pillow fort at the Roach Motel. I think the overall pacing of Abigail’s ordeal with Ben was too lengthy, aside from the fact she delivered her son shy of 6 months from conception, it’s mid-December and she hasn’t showered and changed clothes in a month?! Eww 😝

    • Dylan Says:

Oh the Roach Motel. I can’t remember if there is some nasty motel in the show (similar to the ‘Wagen Wheel’ in ATWT) with some not-so-subtle name.

In general the show seems pretty interesting now, and I LOVE this development of Anne working at Basic Black! I hope they use her more often now, she’s so much fun.

    • mykleraus Says:

I was really grossed out that she apparently put on those same pants (and underwear?) after having gone into labor with said pants on. She’s finally changed and, I hope, showered, but why is she hanging out in the Town Square? Doesn’t she have a baby? Stay the hell home!

I was actually sort of annoyed that she was venting to Chad about having to go to the apartment to get her stuff. Where are Jen and JJ?
