What Happened in Salem: Week of Sept. 21st

There was a whole lot of plot and (luckily?) no shortage of ridiculousness…

Ben was furious when he found Abigail with Chad yet again, and he told her the engagement was off. She pleaded for his forgiveness and insisted that she wants to be with him, not Chad, and Ben agreed to take her back on one condition: that they leave Salem together. Abigail told Jennifer about her plans, and Jen — fresh off a creepy run-in with a suspiciously out-of-breath Clyde while wandering the park at night, as one does — thought it might be for the best, to keep Abigail and the baby away from Clyde. Meanwhile, Marlena placed Chad under hypnosis again, but he had blurry memories of a struggle, so of course Marlena cut the session short. When Chad left her office, the killer — who had apparently just been lurking out in the hallway with a ski mask and gloves on, to the alarm of no one — busted in and attacked Marlena.

abigail is sure doing a bang up job of ‘pretending’ she is not in love with chad and really is with that putz ben…..and that she wants him SO BAD…….this drives me to the nuts. srsly. come on….. after the tracking her on the phone shit, the creepy dad doing plumbing, buying them a freakin house and just being all round cringe inducing….. ga.

i missed the marlena getting attacked epi but anything else i watched the rest of the week was pretty boring to me………

so they show ben with his stupid box of ties……and that’s the end of that folks. BAH!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

They’re really pushing it with Abigail staying with Ben at this point. The rest of the story is working well for me, and I guess we’re supposed to assume it’s because of the baby and because Ben is the “safe choice,” but the tracker and the rage really undercut that. I think that could lay in some stuff about how Abigail grew up not seeing her father for long periods of time, and she doesn’t want to do that to her child by taking him/her from Ben, etc. They need to SHOW her talking that out with someone, not just have us fill in the blanks.

I really enjoyed this week! Shout out to Cozi TV for airing DAYS this week, since our local NBC affiliate interrupted most of Friday for Pope coverage.

The whole thing with Daniel hovering over Marlena in the dark was really, really odd. Were they trying to make us think he was the killer? That was just creepy.

I thought it was odd that Hope asked Kayla to be her matron of honor. I know her and Kayla are close, but isn’t she much closer to Jennifer?

It’s very weird and plot-driven. Not that Hope and Kayla aren’t close, but Jennifer has always been played as her BFF, almost like they’re sisters more than cousins. Their lack of interaction the past few months is really off-point. Also, it seems sort of inappropriate to have your maid of honor be THE SISTER OF THE GUY YOU JUST DIVORCED, but what do I know?
