What Happened in Salem: Week of Sept. 7th

The killer claimed another victim, and the race to take over Basic Black heated up…

Chad realized that Paige had spoken to the police about his whereabouts on the night of Serena’s murder. He confronted her, but she pulled away and fled. Later that night, JJ discovered Paige dead in her dorm room, having been strangled with a necktie. Upon learning that Paige had gone to that big Stanford extension course in the sky, a grieving Eve (GriEve?) broke down. She impulsively kissed Justin, who gently rebuffed her, and then called Marlena for compassion and stability, which is sort of like realizing that you’re freezing to death and then plunging yourself into an ice bath.

did she not make a sobby comment somewhat to the fiction she did know how she would face walking in the door every night w/o her paigey being there?? did she forget her kid hated her guts and moved out months ago and wanted nothing to do with her? oh, ok, i guess delusion is ok because soap crazy…..

the lunacy falls not far from the tree !

Loved the fact that they’re in the Martin residence. Would be interested to know if the mansion resembles the old set (or if there even was an old set – maybe David lived at the Salem Inn back then).

I found it a bit odd that Maggie looked like she’d never heard that part of Julie’s history before. Surely the Julie/David/Susan love triangle was big news in the Horton family, even if Maggie didn’t join for a while after.

Liked the flashbacks of Shawn, even if it seemed like all he Carolyn ever did was hug.

That foyer looked like the DiMera mansion to me. It was hard to tell because of all the tarps and stuff, but that what my first guess based on the front door and the mirror beside it.

It seemed strange to me that a) Maggie acted like she hadn’t heard of the Martins, especially since Susan was still running around Salem as Maggie was joining the family, and b) Julie told the whole story without mentioning that David Martin was the father of her son!

      • Gavin Says:

Oh yes, I assumed it was a repurposed Di Mera mansion. But I wondered if that in turn had once been the Martin set and they’d gone back to old set designs to match any of it. Probably not.

Yes, i thought it odd that Julie didn’t mention that, but then her whole family tree – including kid, grandkid, brother – never get mentioned. Or the fact that she too also had a relationship with Victor, like Carolyn and Maggie.

      • mykleraus Says:

They’ve made only the most passing of references to that Julie/Victor pairing from the early 90s. I guess it was more a flirtation than anything, but still. And yeah, it drives me insane that Julie’s family basically got SORASed out of existence. Giving her a 20-something grandson in 1989 was absolute madness. David should be Mike’s age, but if they went according to Scotty’s SORASing, David should have a 45-year-old son right now. o_O

i bet he and Caroline did Sit and Be Fit together EVER DAY in front of their TV. !

  5. Jamie Says:

Every time a serial killer strikes in Salem the head of a dead patriarch floats by….

They have really wasted Kassie DePaiva with these juvenile story lines and insane non-reasons to plot revenge against Jennifer, but the death of Paige really showed how great of an actress she is. She KILLED it in those scenes talking to Marlena!! I won’t lie, I may have cried a little…both times I watched those scenes…and I didn’t even like Paige!!

    • mykleraus Says:

I teared up, too. KdP was great. Paige is so much more useful as an icon of what Eve and JJ both wanted in their life than she was as a walking, talking character.

Those Eve/Marlena scenes were wonderful. They both felt totally in-character, in the best way.

i could SO be mistaken but i swear i have seen KDPshilling No No’s in infomercials at 3:30 AM…..if it isn’t her it is her twin.

  6. ADW Says:

I’m so glad Eve and Justin didn’t hook up although seeing Adrienne have a hissy fit over it would have been kinda funny and lengthen the stretch of time before she tried to crawling back.
Frankly, Paige was pretty much D.O.A. a year and a half ago.

    • mykleraus Says:

Totally. Paige did not work as a character. I get the concept, but it never clicked.

It would’ve been very gross of Justin (grosser than his constant screaming at Rafe) to sleep with Eve in that state. I’m glad he turned her down. I do want to see them get closer, though.

  7. fluffysmom Says:

I was teary eyed watching Kassie’s scenes on Friday. I hope Eve gets an interesting story away from the Jennifer and JJ vendetta.

  8. underyourwing Says:

i am disappointed rafe hasn’t ambushed justin and shoved a jackstrap down his throat. in the dead of night in the park from behind ect ect…. JUSTIN: STFU already… thank you.

Join Kassie DePaiva and the NO!NO! Hair Removal System on HSN on Sunday, Feb. 5. Kassie’s infomercial for the NO!NO! has been running on various channels throughout the country over the past couple of years……. better late than ever….. little down the thread but there is no mistaking that voice…..
