Casting Updates Continue

Go behind the cut if you aren’t spoiler-averse…

According to We Love Soaps, newcomer Vivian Jovanni (here’s her scant IMDB) is joining Days. Given the recent casting calls, all signs seem to point to her being the new, teenage Ciara Brady. I’m really going to miss Lauren Boles, the current child Ciara, so this girl has a big envelope to fill. Here’s hoping she has the talent and the writing to do it. If they have Ciara acting like Stephanie when she came back to town during that wretched Touch the Sky storyline, I’m going to scream like my name was Kate Roberts and I just found my husband dead beside a bloody cake at our wedding reception.

Meanwhile, We Love Soaps also reports that Kyler Pettis (IMDB here) has also been cast, presumably as the now-teenaged Theo Carver. A few things: a) he’s 22, so I’m allowed to say he’s hot; b) I’m nervous about how they are going to portray an autistic teen, but the autism story was Dena Higley’s baby, so there’s hope; c) Theo’s presence will help beef up the DiMera clan, and he should be 12 now anyway, so have at it.

Finally, there’s a casting call out for “Summer.” As described by Soap Opera Digest:

DAYS is seeking a Caucasian woman in her early 40s to play the short-term, contract role of Summer. She is described as a passionate loner who has been in and out of institutions and is a small-time thief.

To be fair, that’s every woman who has passed through Salem in the past 25 years. Let’s see who they dig up from the annals of soap history to play this role!

Ha! A big envelope to fill

  2. Robbiemac Says:

This is ridiculous news! Neither Ciara or Theo have even passed thru puberty, so how on earth can someone come in and play them as teenagers? Talk about unbelievable! What’s next? Tate will be walking tomorrow? Come on!!

I’m more or less okay with the aging. Ciara should be 10 this year and Theo should be 12, so it’s not too drastic. My biggest regret is that young Ciara is so good!

      • Jamie Says:

Losing the current Ciara is a tragedy!! I’m really, really going to miss her! I hope this new young lady has the same edge and wit.

Meanwhile, thanks for confirming the new Theo is 22. He is hot, indeed!

      • mykleraus Says:

I really wish Lauren Boles could grow up in the role, but I do get that they’d rather tell stories with Hope and Abe’s kids than with, like, another creation such as Jordan. I just hope it works.

    • Farah Says:

Have you ever watched a soap opera? This is what they do.

      • mykleraus Says:

Hahaha. True. If they said this chick was playing Ari, I would be like o_O. But Ciara and Theo have been sentient beings for a while, so jumping from 10 to 16 doesn’t bother me too much.

  3. Erin L. Says:

They have been using Ciara quite a bit lately so I don’t get the aging of them. But soaps don’t have to make sense I guess. Especially Days. Plus like what everyone is saying she is just so good in the role. Is it confirmed they are aging or is it just educated speculation?

    • mykleraus Says:

It’s finally been confirmed. It was just speculation before, based on casting calls with cover names.

I’m really going to miss the current Ciara, but I’d also MUCH rather have a ‘new’ character who’s a teen version of someone we know, and who will create story for Hope, Bo, and others, instead of another Serena.
