What Happened in Salem: Week of June 22nd

Most of the week’s huffing and puffing centered on Xander’s quest to kill Eric and Nicole…

Hoping to lure Eric and Nicole out of their hiding spot and/or kill them, Xander cranked up the temperature in the office building. But things turned steamy in a different way when Nicole and Eric stripped down to their skivvies and, delirious, started making out. Unfortunately, they soon lost consciousness. Daniel, Serena, and Brady came to their rescue and got them medical attention at a rather leisurely pace. The doctors feared that Nicole might have brain damage, but she awoke and was pronounced fine… after which she had memories of her time with Eric and then professed her love to Daniel. If that isn’t evidence of brain damage, I don’t know what is.

Ben is definitely headed to Crazytown. Maybe it’ll help me to better tolerate him. I have my doubts though.

OK, I knew Ben’s bad-ass goatee had appeared for a reason! There is NOTHING that would delight me more than seeing Abigail’s life in danger from a crazed jealous boyfriend with a seedy past and a dangerous father. NOW THAT is a storyline! Although, if her life’s in danger, than that probably means her bitching and whining will increase … so on second thought …

    • mykleraus Says:

At least it might be interesting. I literally forget he exists when he isn’t in a given episode.

  2. Jamie Says:

“We need to get her body temp down ASAP!” Meanwhile,he holds on to her as tight as he possibly can. His hot sweaty body is sure to get her body temp down!

That really annoyed me, for some reason. Probably because it was Daniel, and all things Daniel annoy me.

    • otherweb1 Says:

Getting her out of the hottest room in the building might have helped? Or instructing Brady to grab buckets of ice from the cafeteria?

      • mykleraus Says:

Right?! “Let’s just hang out in this extremely hot room while I call the hospital to ask the Chief of Staff where my ambulance is like it’s a damn Uber.”

    • mykleraus Says:

I KNOW. I get annoyed when they’re non-specific, but then when they are, it’s clear their grasp on science and logic is flimsy at best, so it’s not any better.

      • otherweb1 Says:

And how bad was Eric’s neck wrap and Walmart fan??? I could understand if Tom Horton was her attending and it was 1965. What kind of R&D decisions are Brady, Chad, and the rest of the board making that Univ Hospital doesn’t even have high-tech AC units or the latest technologically advanced freezer suits?

      • mykleraus Says:

        Right? Everything is so janky.

      • otherweb1 Says:

Their medical consultant budget must have gotten slashed, so they might have to rely on looking stuff up in Wikipedia.

      • mykleraus Says:

Does Wikipedia say, “When someone is dying from excessive heat, keep them in the hot environment for as long as possible”? LOL.

  3. otherweb1 Says:

Most enraging moment of the week: Abe saying when they got to Nicole’s office, “Why would anyone have the heat turned up on a hot day in June.” No Abe!!! The REAL question to ask is, “Why would Serena be wearing a long-sleeved dress, Nicole wearing a cardigan, Abigail wearing a long-sleeved, button-down men’s shirt and passing it off as an actual dress, Marlena wearing a sweater over a button down, Ben, Brady, and Paul wearing the same long sleeve cashmere v-necks in different colors, and Xander wearing a leather jacket on a hot day in June???????????!!!!!’

    Multiple Choice:
Which seemed to be the most glaringly bad acting that was waaaay too creepy, didn’t really fit the Days feel, and was more appropriate for a community theater production of a Shakespeare play:
    A) Xander flipping out in the park?
    B) Xander’s expressions when he was tied up in Victor’s warehouse?
    C) The ridiculous suit on Xander and the ridiculous grin on his face when he stepped into Roman’s office?
    D) All of the above?

    • mykleraus Says:

LOL. He definitely over-emotes a lot of the time. I’m at least not bored to death by him, which is a victory at this point…

      • otherweb1 Says:

I was hot on Xander when he first arrived, but his recent Hamlet thing got him moved over to my shit list. I think Liam did a WAY better job of being a lunatic. Xander is just too over the top for me.

      • mykleraus Says:

Omg, that reminds me that I need to revisit the scene where Liam snaps and calls Jennifer a bitch out of nowhere!

  5. otherweb1 Says:

The dialogue between Chad and Abigail in the garden when Ben was listening was fabulous!!! Maybe the work of the new writers?

Paul’s adorable moments getting brotherly with Brady at the hospital and having a talk with Sonny at TBD about his decision to stay in Salem were so lovely! Again, new writer’s material?

AMAZING job this week by Arianna Zucker!!!! And the outfit (minus the shoes) was the icing on the cake, as was her makeup. Grant it, it was WAY too heavy, but she looked gorgeous! A bit ridic though how none of it ran due to the fact that she sat in an oven for an hour. Also ridic how it then looked like Maxine took the time to touch it up in the ER. And then overnight came in to remove it all and make her over in a perfectly flawless more toned-down look.
