Friends in Low Places
No, that is not a portrait of me realizing that Days wasn’t preempted today and I’d have to watch.
But for real, how hilariously weird were those Marlena/Serena scenes yesterday? They were both ratcheted up to like a 17 on a scale of 1 to 10. “How could you and my son BREAK UP????” “Bitch, you gotta go IT’S AN EMERGENCY!!!!!11” These actresses must be so bored that they just agreed to play these relatively mundane scenes like they were a season finale of American Horror Story.
No, that’s not a selfie I took while watching this episode.
I don’t even know what to say about this whole Nicole/Xander/Serena/Eric climax. I guess I’m glad something is happening. Did they even explain how Eric got into this “completely sealed-off” building, or how he knew to find her there? How were Xander and Navidad just able to take control of the entire damn building? Wouldn’t it have made sense for them to attack Nicole at home? We don’t know where she lives, but the characters don’t know she’s homeless!
That said, the scenes down in the basement corridors on Thursday’s show actually looked decent. I’m willing to bet they filmed in the actual hallways of the studio, but still.
God, we could really use a boardinghouse type of place. They could bring back Maggie’s kitchen and have everyone moving through there, and when they cut to those swing-set bedrooms, we’d at least have some context for where they were. It would be interesting for Maggie or Adrienne or somebody to run that sort of place.
In happier news, Kristian Alfonso posted this on Instagram:
Yay to Peter Reckell being there! But mostly yay to the actual Brady Pub set being used and not just that godforsaken booth.
Are the new writers here yet? Because I don’t think I can maintain an entire blog just analyzing and complaining about the sets on Days of Our Lives.
