What Happened in Salem: Week of March 23rd

Here’s a recap, in case you were under the impression that this was a show on which significant things actually happened…

While JJ and Paige celebrated being back together, the makers of ZzzQuil cursed their luck at once again having such formidable competition.

Thank you for validating my distaste for everything Daniel.

Well, it’s official: I can only watch Will on mute. It’s beyond painful. The man must’ve gone to the Nomi Malone school of acting. He’s so manic! The really sad part is that the character itself is showing some real signs of Sami-like behaviour, but it all feels so forced and phony. And the meatier, more compelling the story gets, the worse he is.

Props to Nicole though. Even with very little material, she still makes the most out of every scene. She could’ve been sitting in that coffee shop all day throwing shade to an endless parade of assholes from the past and I’d still find that more interesting than almost anything on the show right now.

It’s true — the more dramatic the material gets, the worse Will’s acting becomes. I didn’t think he was bad when he was playing a supporting role, but all this Big! Heavy! Drama! is not bringing anything good out of him.

Arianne Zucker is like Lauren Koslow: they can throw anything her way, and she’ll spin something decent out of it. I wish they were giving the character something interesting to do…

I can only watch Will by turning the TV off. Will is the EXACT reason I quit the show a few weeks ago, making it about the 3rd time I’ve quit the show in like the past 18 months! And I’ve been watching Days for about 30 years!

      • mykleraus Says:

He’s terrible. He really does seem like a nice guy and a team player, but he’s not a strong enough actor to lead story, especially when the writing is making Will so unlikable. It takes a very special kind of actor to pull that off and makes you realize how good Alison Sweeney really is.

  3. Andie Says:

Great recap 😃 As much as I despise the ridiculous Sarena and “Dumbo’s Droppings” s/l, I enjoy Xander/Paul Telfor he gives that flatlining saga a pulse again. Telfor should be considered for a future James Bond; he’s suave, smooth, sexy, and cleans up well from his Damon “Days.”

    • mykleraus Says:

He has great screen presence. If I weren’t so damn tired of Serena and this stupid story, I wouldn’t have hated this week’s content in it; there was actual tension with Xander showing up, them hiding it from Eric, etc.

  4. Jamie Says:

Why does Daniel care so much that JJ and Eve slept together?? It makes NO sense why he would be so affected by that!

This whole week was a complete waste. The only decent parts were Nicole and Mar’s run-in at the “club”, as that is always fun to see them bicker. Clint’s sexiness sexing up the place. And, Xander’s accent.

    • mykleraus Says:

I DON’T KNOW. It was played as some huuuuuge revelation that Daniel figured it out. Like, so what? I’m sure he’s shocked, but why does it matter so damn much? You were dating a girl and fucked her grandmother! Let it go!

  5. Dylan Says:

This week was so boring that I forgot what the cliffhanger was. Am I the only one who finds this Melanie/Brady/Theresa storyline a total snooze fest? Somehow Clint is stealing people’s blood and I’m still bored out of my mind with it.

    • mykleraus Says:

The problem is that it’s the illusion of movement, but it’s just treading water. They’re so clearly killing time until Kristen turns up with a baby. It’s just people wandering around bitching at each other about the same topics.

      • otherweb1 Says:

I know I’ve read a few times here that new writers are coming in? WHEN????!!! Well to be more exact, when will the air date be? Do you think that once the new writers move in that the show will actually have a point to it again? If so, I’m willing to get back on board! You know, more like the time I’ve been away now has just been a separation, not an actual divorce?

      • mykleraus Says:

I think their stuff should start airing in August. Those transitions are always good for, if nothing else, the excitement of change and shifting pieces. And the 50th anniversary and Christmas are usually good, so I feel like we’re guaranteed at least 4-5 watchable months…
